On the Berm
This evening I took Pickles on my favorite walk -- along the berm, between the ocean and the Sharp Park Golf Course. It was a lovely evening and we had a very nice surprise while we were out -- we saw a school of dolphins, a flock of pelicans and a school of sea lions all frolicking and competing for whatever fish were running close to shore at the time. It was an amazing site. Such a wonder. Here are a few pictures so you cna get a sense of the place -- unfortunately my shutter was not quick enough nor my lens long enough to capture all teh sea life activity.
Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market
This morning, inspired by a rush of love for Julia, Annick and I canceled plans for our garage sale and headed to the market. Perfect weather and produce awaited us. Our best find of the day -- Bronx grapes -- who knew? Designed years ago in the Bronx -- a combination of muscat and concord and who knows what else -- they are rare because they are hard to transport -- but voila, I have some in the kitchen right now.
And to make the day even sweeter, when we got home, our neighbors brought us a bevy of homegrown produce -- ripe tomatoes, tiny baby zucchini and fat red onions.
Julia!
Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were perfect. The movie was so much fun!
Annick and I went wth Diana and her mother. We had a dinner of steak frites first and then on to the show. Fabulous seats, dead center at the Kabuki on opening night. Loved, loved, loved it. And now I'm inspired to tackle some Julia. Of course, I have Mastering the Art -- the first gift I received from Josette -- along with The Way to Cook, Julia's Kitchen and, for fun, My Life in France. For good measure, I also have the orange flame Le Creuset as well.
Bon Apetit!

And on to the game
A's vs. Toronto Blue Jays.
Bruce met us at the Coliseum since he wasn't about to come with us to the Flea Market.
The A's were a complete embarrassment. They lost the game in the first half of the first inning.
Good grief.
But, the weather was warm and sunny and it was just nice to sit outside, have a beer and wait for the 7th inning stretch and the sing-a-long.
Alameda Flea Market -- Virgin Voyage
This morning Annick, Hannah and I went on our maiden voyage to the Alameda Flea Market. I've been hearing about it for years but never made the time to go. Loved it. We'll be back -- and we'll get there much earlier next time. There are so many vendors, and so much to see. Lots of interesting stuff -- from super cheap to pricey.
Hannah bought 2 vintage suitcases -- 1 for $20 and one for $25. Annick bought a sailor pullover for $10. And we saw a lot of cool stuff. Here's a sampling attached.
